India’s art market was hit hard after the economic collapse of 2008. Since then the market, focused around Mumbai and Delhi, has attempted to right itself. Saffronart’s ongoing confident steps towards solidifying its position in the Indian auction scene is heartening, and the refreshed Indian Art Summit, now rebranded as the Indian Art Fair, was received positively in February 2012. A key number of Indian artists now exhibit on a global level, including Rashid Rana, Bharti Kher and Jitish Kallat.
