The Middle East’s art market is moving forward at a fast pace on many levels: institutionally with new cultural centres in Abu Dhabi and Doha and curatorially with large-scale exhibitions from high-profile Western artists like Takashi Murakami and the late Louise Bourgeois. Established art fairs include Art Dubai and the Abu Dhabi Art Fair; curatorial focus is on the Sharjah Biennial, which has been running since 1993.
