Modern Chinese art restores confidence
ArtTactic's Auction Analysis Reports summarise and analyse recent auctions from the key auction houses for each specific geographical region. By collecting and graphing data including volume of sales, average price and bought in rates, the reports are able to judge the success of auctions by comparing the final results to pre-sales expectations.
This May 2009 report takes a closer look at the auction results from Christie's Hong Kong's Chinese Modern and Contemporary Art and Chinese 20th Century Art evening sales. The results from these sales suggests that the market has found support at current price levels after the financial crisis of 2008. This report also includes an important confidence indicator update after its previous fall in confidence in November 2008.
