Phillips de Pury loses its top place as market leader for contemporary design, as Sotheby’s and Christie’s move forward aided by strong results in Paris
ArtTactic's Art Market Reports profile key geographical areas of the art and design ecosystem, providing an overarching survey of the unique characteristics of each specific market. The Contemporary Design market is still very much driven by the high end lots. For a year in which no significant Marc Newson or Ron Arad works came to auction, it is surprising to see only a partial decline. It seems that 2011 has shown a stabilization of the market via the low to mid end of the market.
This is ArtTactic's second Design Market Report after the July 2010 edition. The report profiles the efforts of the core Design galleries, museums and curators.
