The contemporary art market shows no intention of slowing down as ArtTactic’s Contemporary Art Market Confidence indicator has risen to 93 points in the first half of 2006, after reaching 87 points in November 2005 (a reading of more than 50 points reflects more positive than negative responses). This implies that in the current market, bulls outnumber bears at a ratio of more than 14:1. This is the strongest reading since the launch of the indicator in May 2005, and reflects the buoyancy we have seen in the auction market during the first 5 months of the year. The survey includes about 150 leading international contemporary art collectors, advisors, auction experts and dealers.
